Thinking About Circular Fashion
The concept of #circularfashion gained popularity about 15 years ago, as the world started to see the destructive nature of the fashion industry, not only in terms of unethical labour practices, but also the environmental impact of a growing industry designed around "throw away clothing"
Therefore circular fashion is just like it sounds, where items of clothing are passed around in a circular manner, and pieces are either re-used, repaired, recycled into new pieces (upcycling) and also re-sold. We chose the name, The Daisy Chain, to reflect this circular approach.
In our shop, not only do we promote circular fashion by selling used clothing, we also like to think of the circle that exists within our own community! That is why we love when people bring in styles they no longer use, in exchange for store credit. The benefit of this circular approach on a local level are many - clothing gets recycled, people feel less inclined to buy fast fashion, we all get a fun place to shop, and a small business like mine has the chance of survival in an economy set against us!
